Our Vision
Public education is the cornerstone of a thriving democracy, yet in Arlington, it faces unprecedented challenges. Arlington Teachers United exists to protect, strengthen, and champion our public schools. We are committed to providing fact-based reporting and thoughtful analysis of the issues that affect both teaching and learning in our community.
Teaching and learning are inseparable: the conditions that support educators are the conditions that enable students to thrive. Yet today, Arlington’s educators face stagnant salaries, rising workloads, and a growing disconnect between district spending priorities and the core mission of public education. More funds are flowing to administrative positions at Syphax, and extravagant new buildings are being constructed at the expense of the programs, resources, and support that directly benefit students and teachers.
By highlighting these realities and countering one-sided narratives, we advocate for policies that prioritize equity, transparency, and excellence. We empower teachers, families, and the community to make informed decisions and hold decision-makers accountable.
Our ultimate goal is simple but profound: to ensure that every student in Arlington has access to high-quality public education, and every educator has the support, respect, and resources they need to teach at their best. Together, we defend public education as a democratic right and a shared community responsibility.
